About

Sleater-Kinney is an American rock band formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1994. The current lineup includes Corin Tucker (vocals and guitar) and Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), following the departure of Janet Weiss (vocals, drums, and harmonica) in 2019. Originating from the riot grrrl movement, Sleater-Kinney has played a significant role in the American indie rock scene, known for its feminist and liberal politics. The band released seven studio albums from 1994 to 2005 and temporarily disbanded in 2006 for solo projects. They reunited in 2014, releasing "No Cities to Love" in 2015 and "The Center Won't Hold" in 2019, produced by St. Vincent. Their tenth studio album, "Path of Wellness," their first self-produced, was released in June 2021. Praised by critics such as Greil Marcus and Robert Christgau, Sleater-Kinney has been hailed as one of the essential rock groups, with accolades including being named America's best rock band in 2001 and the greatest rock band of the past two decades in 2015.
